Broadened scope of activities of the National Sports Centre (NSC)

On Thursday, August 5th 2010, an annex to the agreement with the National Sports Centre was signed at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. The annex broadens the scope of activities of the NSC to include new tasks related to the preparation and implementation of the UEFA EURO 2012TM project.

In accordance with the agreement of December 23rd, 2008, the task of the National Sports Centre was to build the National Stadium in Warsaw. The annex signed today includes the following additional tasks for the NSC:

1.   tasks related to the preparation of the National Stadium for the UEFA EURO 2012TM Championship, in accordance with Article 13, paragraph 2, point 5) and 6) of the Act on Euro 2012;

2.   tasks related to the management of the stadium on behalf of the State Treasury, in accordance with Article 13, paragraph 2, points 5) and 6) of the Act on Euro 2012.

“The choice of the National Sports Centre as the administrator of the National Stadium in Warsaw has been a good one. NSC staff know the facility inside out, have considerable experience in cooperation with UEFA, and knowledge related to stadium management” said Adam Giersz, Minister of Sport and Tourism.

“I am convinced that the National Sports Centre staff will ensure the most efficient and professional operation of the National Stadium in Warsaw” said Rafał Kapler, Chairman of the NSC Management Board.
