2nd edition of the Orlik Tournament for the Cup of Prime Minister Donald Tusk kicks off
A record number of almost 150 thousand girls and boys, representing 15 thousand teams, signed up for this year’s edition of the tournament.
The Orlik Tournament is played in two age categories, 10-11 and 12-13, separately by boys and girls. This year, a pilot tournament for 7-8 year olds is also planned. It will be played by 100 teams representing sports centres which participated in the Orlik Academy programme.
As usual, the Orlik Tournament will begin with municipality-level qualification round. From the 2nd to the 16th of September, 15 thousand teams will be competing on 1113 Orlik fields for places in the Voivodship-level qualification round which will be played from the 19th to the 24th of September. The winners of the Voivodship-level qualifications will go through to the Voivodship finals (26.09 – 1.10) to compete for places in the Nationwide Finals. The decisive phase of the tournament will involve 64 teams in four categories and will take place in Warsaw, at the Torwar sports hall where the finals will be played.
Orlik Tournament Timetable:
02.09-16.09 – municipal-level qualification round with the participation of 15 thousand teams; only winners will progress to the next round
19.09-24.09 – Voivodship-level qualification round (matches will be played on selected Orlik pitches)
26.09-01.10 – Voivodship finals: 16 events in selected cities
04.10-07.10 – nationwide finals in Warsaw, with 64 teams participating in four categories
