Meeting of the ministers competent for tourism in the Visegrad Group countries

On 14 February 2012 Prague hosted a high-level meeting of the ministers competent for tourism in the Visegrad Group countries.
The meeting was preceded by a debate of the representatives of the National Tourism Organisations driving at development of a joint marketing plan of promotional activities on the third country markets in 2012.
Because of the Czech Presidency of the Visegrad Group in 2011-2012 the meeting was organised by the Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic represented by Michal Janeba – Vice-Minister competent for regional development and tourism.
The debate during the meeting concerned the state of tourism development in Member States, new projects, actions aimed at ensuring funds for tourism in the new European Union financial perspective, as well as joint promotional activities on the markets, e.g. of the BRIC countries.
At the end of the meeting a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of tourism in 2012 was signed. The Memorandum provides e.g. for the exchange of information about the undertaken marketing activities, efforts to increase the volume of tourist arrivals from the third countries, strengthening of joint promotional activities in China, Japan, the Russian Federation and America, modification of the www.european-quartet.com website and strengthening of the B2B promotional activity.
The Memorandum was signed by the following – form the Czech Republic: Mr. Michal Janeba – Deputy Minister competent for regional development and tourism, Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic; from Hungary: Mr. Lászlo Szöllősi – Minister of State for National Economy, Ministry for National Economy of Hungary; form Slovakia: Mr. Stanislav Rusinko – Directorate General of Tourism, Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Development of the Slovak Republic; from Poland: Ms. Katarzyna Sobierajska – Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Sport and Tourism.
