Informal Meeting of EU Ministers of Tourism in Naples
On 30 October 2014 in Naples an Informal Meeting of EU Ministers of Tourism was held and the 13th European Tourism Forum began. The events were attended by the Polish delegation headed by Ms Katarzyna Sobierajska, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism.
During the informal meeting of EU Ministers of Tourism, a debate on innovative measures towards increasing employment in tourism and culture was held. Minister Katarzyna Sobierajska emphasised the significance of tourism for the development of economy and the increase of employment. She noted that the European tourism sector needs to develop to maintain its competitiveness. This development should take into account the role of cultural heritage in creating an attractive tourist offer.
The Italian Presidency was also the organiser of the thirteenth European Tourism Forum whose main theme, similarly as in the meeting of the Ministers, was tourism and culture: innovative measures towards increasing employment. During the Forum the invited guests presented, inter alia, their experience in using synergies between the sectors for the development of tourist offer and protection of cultural heritage.
