Meeting of the Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council
On May 19 in Brussels, a meeting of the Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council was held with the participation of EU ministers responsible for sport. Poland was represented by the Undersecretary of State Dorota Idzi who spoke during the debate „ Physical activity as an essential element of quality education at all levels – models of cooperation with the sport sector”.
- Cooperation between the education sector and the non-governmental part of the sports sector, carried out in the context of activities held not only at schools but also outside them, brings significant added value, emphasized Minister Idzi and she mentioned student sports clubs and schools of sports championship as examples of such cooperation.
In the session, the Council also adopted conclusions on the role of grassroots sport in developing transversal skills, especially among young people. The document emphasizes the important role of sport in the development of soft skills that can be used in other areas of life, particularly in the labour market.
