Polish Kendo Association honoured by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan
On 6 November 2014, at the residence of the Japanese ambassador in Poland, a ceremony was held during which the Polish Kendo Association was awarded a diploma of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Ambassador Makoto Yamanaka emphasised the role of Japanese martial arts in the development of the relations between Poland and Japan.
Katarzyna Sobierajska, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, expressed her appreciation for the Polish Kendo Association and emphasised that sports which represent the culture and tradition of Japan play an increasingly important role in Poland, have significance for the formation of personality, and make it possible to fully use the abilities of the body and the mind. She added that the principle “you win when you follow the rules” is the domain of sports and martial arts as well a the cultures of Japan and Poland,
During the meeting, a kendo demonstration was also given.
