This year’s EU Sports Forum was held on 2 and 3 December in Milan. It was attended by about 300 participants including representatives of international and European sports federations, the Olympic movement, European and national sports governing bodies and other sport-related organisations.

The Forum was opened by Mr Tibor Navracsics, the new Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, and representatives of the Italian Presidency of the EU Council and the European Parliament.

The first two sessions of the Forum focused on issues related to the operation of the Erasmus programme and the results of the 2012 preparatory action in the field of sport. The sessions were followed by a debate on the future of sport in the EU and the European Week of Sport. The discussion ended with the official signature of the agreement by the partners of the European Week of Sport to be held for the first tie in September 2015. On the second day of the Forum the discussions focused on multisport clubs and the economic and social consequences of holding major sporting events

The Forum is an excellent platform for international exchange of opinions and experience and for developing new forms of cooperation; it also provides the possibility of direct contact with representatives of the European Commission.
