Women and Sport in Europe Seminar
On Monday, 27 April 2015, the opening of the international seminar Women and Sport in Europe took place at the headquarters of the Polish Olympic Committee in Warsaw. Andrzej Biernat, Minister of Sport and Tourism, welcomed the delegates on behalf of the Polish sports administration.
- The initiative encouraging women to be more active in the public space, develop new skills and interests and strengthen their role in sport is truly valuable. I am glad that the event is held in the capital city of Poland, said Minister Biernat.
The meetings and discussions, to be attended by over 75 female delegates, including Lydia Nsekera, Chair of the IOC Women and Sport Commission, Daina Gudzineviciute, Chair of the EOC Gender Equality in Sport Commission, and Brigitta Kervinen, President of the European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation, will focus on strengthening the role of women in sport, enhancing their activity in this field and overcoming stereotypes.
On Tuesday, the participants were hosted to a dinner by Minister Andrzej Biernat on the occasion of the seminar of the International Olympic Committee.
The panels and workshops in which the women will exchange their experience will last until Wednesday, 29 April.
